Staff reporter :: A 60-year-old man named Sadhon Barua of Nandankanan in Raozan upazila of Chittagong has been found guilty of raping a 10-years-old child. The medical examination of the raped child and the investigation of Raozan police confirmed this information. Investigating officer Shahadat Hossain submitted the final chargesheet of the case to the court on December 21, 2020, saying that initially there were signs of rape. The investigating officer of the case mentioned in the final chargesheet, “The accused Sadhan Barua (65) took the child to the room of a Buddhist monk on the banks of Kaishapukur by showing greed for money. The accused then took off the victim’s pants and raped her against her will for sexual purposes.Then sadhon barua gives 5 notes of one hundred taka to the victim so that she does not say anything to anyone. Victim used the money to buy toys from witness (pseudonym) Tapas Barua and (pseudonym) Saikat Barua.

In this regard, the father of the victim child said, I want justice for this misdeed of Sadhan Barua.
Advocate Mostafa Kamal, the plaintiff’s lawyer in the case, said,The sensational case of rape of a motherless 10-year-old child has now been framed in the Chittagong Women and Child Abuse Tribunal against accused Sadhan Barua under Section 9 (1) of the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act 2000 (Amendment 03). Section 9 (1) of the Women and Child Abuse Suppression Act 2000 (Amendment 03) has a provision to complete the trial within 90 working days. This is a very sensitive case.
