Hundred years of “Mulluk Cholo” a historical movement of Tea worker’s has been celebrated

---Sylhet correspondent: Mulluk Cholo a historical movement of tea worker’s has been celebrated its hundred years. Since it’s been taken place in 20 May, 1921, when 30 thousand contractual tea workers of Kachar and Syhlet district was gathered and participated in that movement of going from Karimgonj Rail station to Chadpur shipyard, a long walking as a symbol of revolt against the British land lords oppression with the leadership of Gangacharan Dixit and Deosaran Tripathi.
On that time, when the tea workers were waiting for the ship to on board, British land lords planned with Asam Rifel’s Gorkha Forces to push the revolts with arms on the charge of breaking the contracts. Many had been died on that massacre and it’s became a milestone for the tea workers to talk about and establishing of their rights. This massacre was carried out to suppress the seeds of future rebellion.
This year, on 20 May, in many tea gardens it’s been celebrated by the tea workers in Bangladesh with the demand of daily wages of five hundred (500) taka, rights of lands, education and medical facilities and ensuring of fundamental rights for the tea labors.
Yesterday, 20 May, 2021, as a part of Bangladesh Tea Labors Federation’s celebration program, respects had shown to the temporary martyr’s alter who were died in the movement and rallies, processions, lighting were held in many tea gardens in Shremongol, Karimpur, Rajnagor, Mathura, Muminchara, Ratna, Dhamai, Sona Rupa, Kaliti, Langla, Tarapasha, Doloi, Somsernogor, Alinogor, Sunchora, Kurma, Champarai, Varaura, Vurvuriya, Fulchara, Lakhai, Kejurichara, Horinchara, Rajghat, Sindurkhan, Amrail, Chadpur, Begumkhan, Ranganga, Joyal vanga, Amu, Loskorpur, Deondi, Teliyapara, Boikunthopur, Noapara, Rema, Rashidpur, Malinichora, Lakkatura, Khadim, Tarapur.
