Naik Abu Kalam Azad, a member of the Border Guard Bangladesh Panchari Battalion, 3 BGB family, participated in that highest judo event for the Bangladesh team.

In 2018, the judo player Md. Abul Kalam Azad won the honor of hoisting the country’s flag on foreign soil by participating in the Judo World Cup competition and presented the Bangladesh Judo team to the world court.
Judo player Abul Kalam Azad has not received national recognition from Bangladesh Judo Federation, National Sports Council and Bangladesh Olympic Association as well as the government of Bangladesh after winning so many national and international medals in judo.
judo player Abul Kalam was born on December 10-1988 in Mitharpara village of Pirganj upazila of Rangpur district, Kumedpur UP. His father is a social worker. Qayyum Uddin Mondal and Mother Mocha. Sahera Begum is the eldest of 4 children (2 boys, 2 girls). Abu Kalam Azad passed SSC from Gurji Para KP High School in 2005 and HSC from Rangpur BM College in 2015. Now studying at Bangladesh Open University.
It should be noted that since the independence of Bangladesh in 1972, all those who have been in power have tried to sponsor sports through various sports organizations. But there is no presedent for working on sports development including team sports and individual sports. For example: football, cricket, volleyball, handball, basketball, hockey, kabadi, kho-kho etc. team games, everyone in a team has to play well. A gold medal is awarded after 100% good performance. And in individual sports like judo, wrestling, wushu, taekwondo, tennis, chess, karate, boxing, kick boxing, archery, etc., a player can win a gold medal if he plays well in national and international competitions.
This issue is ongoing for every upazila sports organization, district sports organization, divisional sports organization, sports board of all forces, all sports federations of the country, Bangladesh Olympic Association, Bangladesh Sports Directorate, National Sports Council, national policy makers and organizers of the Bangladesh government, regardless of the party. Sponsorship of team sports as well as sponsorship of individual sports needs to be considered.
Only one player can display the national flag of Bangladesh in the world court.
