Press release :: Dhaka, 16 September 2020 : First session of online “Communication Technique Training”, a joint project by UK-based human rights organization, ARTICLE 19, and German leading media development organization, DW Akademie, has ended successfully with its first batch of participants. The course began on 15th February this year. Forty learners were recently awarded with certificates after successfully completing the course. The participants were trained on digital rights/safety, media laws and media ethics through the 10-week of rigorous online course. The second batch of the course is now underway with 250 participants enrolled. The third batch of the course is tentatively aimed to begin on October 10, 2020.

The online course, completely free and conducted in Bangla, is open to students of communications and journalism, journalists, online activists, and social media users. Anyone interested in the digital media literacy can participate in this course. The course is designed for easy access with any computer as well as smartphone. Participants only need to register at https://banglatutorial-media.org/ to take part in the course.

In a statement regarding the course, Faruq Faisel, Regional Director of ARTICLE 19 South Asia said, “ThroughThrough this online training, participants will be more aware and responsible regarding hate speech, fake news, privacy and data protection. The course aims to provide participants with the tools to learn more about accountability, governance, environment protection, media ethics as well information verification, accuracy and digital rights and safety issues.”

ARTICLE 19 is UK based human rights organization founded in 1987 with a specific mandate and focus on the defense and promotion of freedom of expression and freedom of information worldwide. The organization has been working in South Asia since 2008.
